Number Coding Scheme Suspended On April 18-24 During Lawyers Convention

BAGUIO CITY – Mayor Braulio Yaranon has issued last week administrative order no. 035 suspending the implementation of the city's number coding scheme from April 18-24 in order to accommodate delegates who are expected to join the 10th National Convention of Lawyers slated on April 19-23.
It will be the first time for the Integrated Bar of the Philippines (IBP) Northern Luzon and Baguio-Benguet Chapters to host the five-day activity in the city.
As a show of support, members of the city council earlier passed a resolution declaring the period from April 18-24 as "Integrated Bar of the Philippines Week" in the city.
The imposing body also requested for the suspension of the implementation of the number coding scheme during the said period, “considering that delegates nationwide are expected to attend the convention together with families and friends”.
It must be remembered that the city council passed city ordinance no. 1, series of 2003, also known as the Baguio City Number Coding Scheme and that under section 7 of said ordinance, the Mayor, under certain conditions, may suspend through an administrative order, the scheme's implementation.
Copies of the administrative order were furnished to the Baguio City Police Office, members of the city council and the IBP Baguio-Benguet Chapter.
