The farmer's son returned from the market with the crate of chickens his father had entrusted to him, when suddenly the box fell and broke open. Noisy chickens ran off in all directions, but the determined boy chased them down all over the neighborhood grabbing the birds and returning them to the crate he repaired. Hoping he had found them all, the boy reluctantly returned home, expecting the worst.
"Dad, the chickens got loose," the boy said, "but I found all twelve of them."
"You did very well, son," the happy father said. "You left with seven."
