In all her life Granny had never been sick, so she didn't take it kindly when a bad case of stomach pain sent her to the hospital for observation.
By the time she was tucked into bed, she had complained about everything - the temperature, the lights, the food and the inadequate hospital gown she had to wear.
Then Grandma spotted a small plastic item with a button, attached to a cord that led to a wall outlet. "What's that?" she asked.
An intern answered, "If you need anything in the middle of the night, Grandma, just press that button."
"Does it ring a bell?" she asked.
"No, it turns on a light in the hall for the nurse on duty," the intern replied.
"A light?" responded Grandma. "Look, I'm the sick one here. If the night nurse needs a light in the hall, she should switch it on herself."
