The Office of Civil Defense – Cordillera Administrative Region (OCD-CAR) conducted the first-ever citywide earthquake drill in Baguio City on March 31, 2016. The exercise—dubbed the #BaguioCityShakeDrill—aims to assess the city’s preparedness in the event of an actual earthquake.

Drills were held in several key locations around Baguio City, including at the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center (see photos below), where patients and medical staff alike assumed the Duck, Cover and Hold position in response to an initial earthquake tremor. Soon after, evacuations were carried out at the hospital’s outdoor grounds, where emergency responders treated mock patients with simulated injuries.
